Education

Our mission is to provide well-rounded educational experiences for children of all abilities that will help them grow, learn, and express. We offer experiences that promote socialization, tacticle learning, self-expression, and small and gross motor skill development and independence. We promote independent and group learning. Our staff helps foster peer relationships as well as an individual relationship with each child.

Admission Policies

According to our State License, we will be licensed to serve 43 children in our pre-school at any given time. If our numbers grow larger than 43, we will re-submit for a new license that fits our needs.
The State of Wisconsin puts out a handbook each year of administrative codes also known as the "Orange Book". You as a parent are free to look at it at any given time. Please ask one of the Pre-School U staff and they will be glad to get it for you.

For full days, the fee includes morning and afternoon snack, and milk or 100% juice at each snack period, as well as lunch.
Upon enrollment the parent/guardian must fill out medical and information forms. The medical paperwork informs the staff about the child. Information covered on this form will include allergies, medications being taken, and hospital choice in case of an emergency. The information form tells the staff who you would like contacted in emergencies, where and how to contact them, who can pick up and drop off children, and other personal information in relation to the parent/guardian(s) as well as the child. These forms will be given to you by guest services when you register. The paperwork will only be seen by staff members, the program director, respective parent/guardian(s), and in emergency situations, medical personnel. The information will be kept confidential.

Meals

Every day the preschool children will eat lunch starting at approximately 11:30 am. Lunch will usually last an hour long. If your child comes on half days it is up to you to decide when you would like to provide your child with lunch. If your child comes for full days they must be sent with a lunch. The RecPlex will supply each child with his/her choice of milk or 100% juice for lunch.
If your child does not have a lunch for the day, there are two things we will do. First , we will call the parent/guardian to see if they can bring one by. If the parent/guardian is unable to drop off a lunch, we will order your child something from the concession stand. The parent/guardian will be responsible for reimbursement at the time of pick-up. Please understand that the purchase of lunch from the concession stand will only be utilized in emergency situations. This is not meant to be a habitual or a continual reason to send your child/children without a lunch.
State law required that your child's lunch must be nutritious, meaning that you must provide a fruit and or vegetable, a sandwich, or a meal that may need to be heated in the microwave. If your child is missing a fruit or vegetable, we will provide one with the understanding that this will not become customary.

Snacks

The following is a list of snacks that are deemed acceptable by the State. Due to guidelines from the State of Wisconsin, we are only permitted to serve approved snacks. Special treats are allowed on special occasions in addition to the regular snack, but only those that are store bought and unopened in the original package. We are not able to serve any food item that is homemade.

Acceptable Snacks (served with 100% juice or milk)
Crackers
Pretzels
Fresh fruit

Yogurt

Proper manners will be demonstrated with snack and lunch times. Children will never be forced to eat or have food withheld from them. They will be encouraged to try different foods.

* Any food allergies must be indicated on the annual information form. Children who have dietary restrictions for any other reason must also document this on the information form. Substitute snacks will need to be provided by the parent.

Naps

Our summer activities make for a long day for young children. Rest periods are required for the health and well being of the child. A cot is provided as a comfortable rest area for each child. Preschool day campers will have scheduled nap times from approximately 12:15pm- 2:00pm. A student may lie down as late as 12:30pm, and all lights are turned on at 2:00pm. If a child sleeps with a favorite toy or blanket, please, feel free to send it with the child. Children will also be required to bring a sleeping bag.
